Lightning struck a pig farm in Chaling county, Hunan, porkifying 171, and proving that not even god is on your side when you’re a pig in China. Lu Qingsheng estimated that the lightning cost him nearly 300,000 RMB, according to News 163.
The owner’s wife was also injured.
“The lightning is like a ball of fire,” said Lu’s wife, “Many different kinds of colors came into my eyes just after the lightning strike. You need to wait 10 minutes before you are able to see things clearly. My left toe is burned and my foot is bleeding.”
Lu has five pig houses in total, each housing 400 animals. When the lightning struck, it quickly forked into two bolts, lancing through the metal handrails of the houses and scorching the animals.
As you can see, the handrails have been pierced through. Numerous pig ears were also found on the ground.
Pig electrocution is actually more common than you’d think, although baconation by lightning is a new one for us.
