A group of middle-aged people were spotted doing Tai Chi in a bank in Chengdu during office hours yesterday. Why not…..
A set of photos showing around 20 middle-aged men and women doing Tai Chi inside a bank in Chengdu went viral soon after a Web user posted them online and wrote: “They made me laugh. There’s even an instructor!”
The bank claimed that it was a Tai Chi class organized by the bank targeting middle-aged and elderly clients. It was intended as community service for the customers so that they could do stretching exercises while entertaining themselves and enriching their lives. And no doubt interrupting important transactions.
According to the staff, the class venue was in fact an open space outside the bank; however, due to the hot weather, the class was held inside the bank to prevent participants from suffering from heat stroke. The class, which will likely be held outdoors in the future, will temporarily be suspended due to the heat.
As no music was needed for Tai Chi, the class didn’t hinder the operation of bank business, the staff added.
Speaking of which, let’s hope the dancing grannies don’t follow suit.
