A large green truck carrying a massive cannon-like sprinkler was spotted in Chongqing’s Jiulongbo district, blasting water on the streets to control heavy dust and bring down high temperatures.
Representatives from Jiulongbo Municipal Administration Commission introduced the sprinkler cannon, which has the ability to spray water 100 meters far and 50 meters high while rotating 360 degrees. Around 80 percent of airborne dust will apparently fall on the ground after being drenched by water, according to the representatives.
They added that the multi-function vehicle could manage to drop the temperature as well.
The cannon is the first dust controller in Chongqing imported from outside of China, costing a cool 700,000-800,000 yuan. Currently it goes into service four times a day on Yangjiapinghuan Road, Zhigang Road and Yangjiu Road.
At least it doesn’t claim to eliminate smog.
