A 6.5-magnitude earthquake hit Ludian county, Yunnan Province around 4:30 today, according to the China Earthquake measure station. Its epicenter is as deep as 12 kilometers. No injuries have yet been reported in the quake.
Internet users from Kunming, Chengdu, Leshan, and Chongqing said they could feel the shake. An aftershock of magnitude 3.3 struck 15 minutes later, with an epicenter of 5,000 meters.
Earlier today, at 1:57 p.m., another a 5.0-magnitude hit in the Shigatse prefecture of Tibet, according to Xinhua. There have likewise been no reports of casualties yet.
Ludian’s communication systems have been seriously affected. Police and firefighters have been dispatched to the scene to help.
