These mass “blind date parties” never manage to not look awkward/desperate. This swimsuit-themed one held in Beijing on Saturday appeared to be no exception, yet 200 singles showed up nonetheless to auction themselves off on stage at the Beijing Happy Magic Water Cube Water Park for the Qixi Festival.
Most of the attendees were people between 22 and 40 years old with stable jobs. The wet ‘n’ wild party grounds were meant to lighten the mood and possibly facilitate a few “accidental” nip-slips for those especially competitive women.

Prison-like, contestants dressed in orange were paraded around on stage, performing humiliating and certainly near-impossible activities as water-bound audiences looked on and laughed.
A 54-year-old woman surnamed Quan who was cited in a Want China Times article said that she didn’t think it was an appropriate way to meet her future husband because activities like this behind-the-back ball game made it difficult to learn about potential suitors’ backgrounds.
