Fang Hang, a young Dalian man, has raised beetles for almost 10 years – a past time marginally less icky than cockroach-breeding. For him, it’s both a hobby and important research, according to Tencent News.
Fang learned of beetle raising when he was studying in Japan in 2005. He fell in love with it as it reminded him of catching bugs as a kid
Fang started breeding them, and five months later, he succeeded in raising three hercules beetle babies. The delight of the initial success paved the way for his “beetle farm.”
One of his critters, a “dynastes”. Fang sports a tattoo of one.
With his family and friends’ support, fan has created a “beetle breeding room” and even founded an online store called his “beetle tribe.”
