A large mass of bras were found drying under the sun at a recycling station in Beijing’s Shaojiao Village, leaving many passersby wandering what exactly was going to become of the things.
A citizen surnamed Zhang said he ‘felt strange’ after seeing the worn bras scattered on the ground, and worried that they might be resold on the market.
Not to worry. Maybe.
Wang, a representative from the station, said that the bras were going to be destroyed for recycling, making it impossible to resell them on the market. This particular pile of bras was reclaimed from colleges in Beijing for a turnaround rate of 0.5 yuan per kilogram.
“Nobody would wear these as gifts. They are going to be ruined,” said Wang, adding that the bras would be made into insoles, kneepads, carpets and more.
What you’re looking at now, folks, are future carpets to be sent to Northeast Provinces for vegetable-warming purposes.
You’ll never look at shoe insoles the same way again.
