A 70-year-old man from Taiwan was reunited with his two daughters yesterday after he’d gotten lost in Shanghai’s Jing’an district during a visit and failed to return for almost two days, Shanghai Daily reports.
The man, Wang Mao-hsiung, arrived in Shanghai early on Tuesday to visit his youngest daughter, who contacted the police after he’d left her apartment in Jing’an district to go for a walk and never returned.
A missing person notice was issued by Wednesday afternoon as officers searched for the man who, according to his daughter, suffered from mild amnesia.
Wang was first spotted by a police officer who found him in a drunken stupor outside Shanghai Museum on Wednesday evening.
Though the officer was unaware that the man was Wang, he took him into custody.
When questioned yesterday, Wang said he couldn’t remember his daughter’s name or where she lived. In a bid to identify the man, police issued a notice on Weibo yesterday.
Just 10 minutes later, while on its rapid flight through cyberspace, the message was spotted by Wang’s daughter who contacted police. Soon after, the woman and her elder sister enjoyed a tearful reunion with their dad.
This never would’ve happened to this guy.
