Around 3,000 temporarily settled victims from the Yunnan earthquake were fed as residents pitched in to cook a massive rice meal, according to Tencent News.
Wang Zidong, the head chef of the effort from Ludian County, volunteered to cook for the victims at the settling area. The food was enough to feed around 3,000 people who’d mostly been dining on instant noodles.
Villagers also helped in the preparing the ‘Big Bowl’.

One volunteer used a large rock to smash the wood for lighting up a fire.

Prickly ash peppers, a Ludian cuisine, were added to the bowl with chili pepper oil for taste.
At 11:30, people began queuing for the meal.
Deng Qichan, a 12-year-old boy who took part in the meal, said the rice was much better than instant noodles.
Over 600 people were killed in the 6.5-magnitude quake which left thousands more injured and homeless. The devastation has drawn people from around China to the quake zone where relief efforts are under way.
