A man who was fishing at a riverside in Sichuan pulled in a rare catch on Wednesday when he found a grenade attached to the end of his fishing pole, Oriental Daily reports.
The man, surnamed Xie, was minding his business when suddenly he realized rod was hooked. He walked over to investigate and realised the stick-like object stuck in the mud was a grenade.
In a panic, Xie buried it underground then asked friend to contact the cops for him.
The team unearthed the device for destruction and are now tracing the source of the grenade.
As seen from the photo, the grenade is unimpaired, and netizens guessed it was a type 67 grenade, which is large in volume but not powerful in firing.
