Onlookers in Beijing were stunned yesterday to see a helicopter land in a busy intersection to whisk a 43-year-old Xinjiang heart attack patient to a hospital, Tencent News reports.
Traffic police cordon off the intersection to make way for the chopper. Ambulances standby.
The helicopter appears, attracting the crowd’s attention. Aviation staff guide the chopper to a safe landing.
A spokesperson from Reignwood Aviation, the company in charge of patient transferal, said that the mission was completed with two different types of aircrafts. A fixed-wing aircraft transported the patient from Urumqi to Beijing, and a chopper carried him from Beijing airport to near Anzhen Hospital.
Medical personnel load the man, surnamed Yue, onto a stretcher.
It reportedly took less than a minute to transfer the patient from the chopper to the ambulance.
Li, the doctor accompanying Yue, said he was stable throughout the journey despite a little airsickness.
Yue is currently being monitored at Anzhen Hospital by a special medical team. His situation is still very serious as he suffers from coronary heart disease.
An insurance claimed the total transferal fee amounted to 500,000RMB!
