Most of the towns and roads in Lishui, Zhejiang province were submerged due to a series of strong rainstorms that visited this week. The Wucun Wei area suffered the most, with a 10-meter main road becoming completely flooded.
Police and soldiers on assault boats are currently rescuing citizens. So far, 20,701 people have been evacuated from the area hit by storms.
The average rainfall from August 16 to August 20 reached 192.3mm, with Songyang receiving 237mm and Liandu seeing 223.1mm of rain. Persistently high levels of water stand in Oujiang, breaking the record from 1998.
A 15-year old boy Ye Shengtao saved the pigs which were trapped in the flood.
Liandu soldiers and the rescue team were helping in evacuation work.
They also sent food to victims.
