An elderly resident in Qingdao made waves after turning his personal bathroom into a public one, charging 2RMB for ‘number one,’ and 5RMB for ‘number two,’ according to Chinanews reports. Hey, whatever keeps people from using the city streets as a public bathroom, right?
In order to attract more customers, the man posted a dozen signs in front of the building and the roadside highlighting the bathroom’s location.
One internet user mocked: “the most ‘newby’ private washing room”.
Another said, “the most expensive ‘public washing room’ fees.”
Others said, “that definitely has a bad impact on Qingdao’s image.”
According to the old man, he opened the ‘public restroom’ last year. The prices were one yuan and two yuan at the time. But because of inflation, he raised it to be two yuan and five yuan respectively.
