A five-year-old girl was rescued after being trapped for two hours in the wake of a deadly coach crash that left four people dead and 37 people injured in Wuzhou, Guangxi, according to Tencent News.
The coach was heading from Dongguan, Guangdong province to Guigang, Guangxi Autonomous Region when the incident occurred. Two fire trucks carrying rescue personnel as well as police rushed to the scene, where 15 people were trapped in the vehicle, crushed beyond recognition.
The youngest victim, five-year-old Xiao Ye, never even shed a tear as she was trapped inside the coach for two hours before being pulled out by firemen. She was found lying in the most severely crushed part of the vehicle, at the bottom-middle bed in between the upper bed and side compartment. She was sandwiched inside, with only her head and left elbow exposed, and could be heard shouting repeatedly: “Uncle please help!”
The firemen pacified the girl while figuring out a rescue plan for her under the narrow gap. They first pulled the twisted compartment outward to make space and then cleared away the warped metal frames one by one. She was finally saved after two hours.
She calmly cooperated with the rescue plan, impressing the rescue staff. Upon rescue, she was fully conscious and in stable condition, only sustaining wounds on her head and right leg.
The crash occurred when the head of a truck collided into the middle part of the coach. Three drivers were trapped and 20 more passengers were hospitalized. The intense rescue effort lasted over six hours.
