A portion of students resorted to standing all day for lessons due to a lack of chairs as the first day of school kicked off in Linyi, Shandong province, Oriental Daily reports.
Due to a lack of funding and insufficient seating in the classrooms, 35 grade-four students stood all day for lessons after they gave their chairs to the grade one students.
The principal revealed that the grade one class had grown from one to two full-sized classes, but they didn’t have enough funding to support it. Therefore, some students would stand temporarily for lessons.
A teacher from the school took a video of the situation and posted it online, hoping to raise funds for the classrooms so that children wouldn’t have to resort to squat homework.
At least this school didn’t do it on purpose to make students eat faster…ahem.
