Guo Bin, or Binbin, returned to school for the first time this week after falling victim to a horrific attack last year which required him to be fitted with prosthetic eyes and undergo extensive therapy.
The Wuhan-based primary school, which specializes in training blind children, offered free tuition for Binbin, who made a speech on behalf of the students on the first day of school.
Last August, Binbin was lured away from his home by a woman who then gouged his eyes out. The attacker is suspected to be the boy’s aunt, who later committed suicide.
Binbin was discharged from the hospital in December after receiving prosthetic eye implants. He now uses a magnetic electric device equipped with a mini video camera and a tongue monitor which allows him to perceive images.
