Nanchang University officials attempted to institute a
naive novel new policy placing the responsibility for a clean, sanitary living environment in the dorms on the students… leading to predictable results.
According to Tencent News, university officials decided to do away with cleaners, entrusting the cleanliness of the university dorms’ bedrooms, common rooms and bathrooms to the hard-working university students. The policy was instituted on September 1 and after a week, things are looking about as gross you would imagine.
Students argue that the policy is not fair. They already pay enough in fees, so why should they be asked to keep the bathroom tidy too.
For some it’s not even about the fees. A student identified as “Sad Lily” on Weibo wrote that “It’s not a problem of money. If you gave me 5000rmb a month, I still wouldn’t do it. I came here to study. I didn’t come here to clean toilets.”
Thus, you get the picture above.
At least students appear to be on the right track.
A very lonely mop.
