Chinese Olympic gold medalist Liu Xiang registered for marriage today in Shanghai, according to photos spreading across China’s social media, which also revealed his fiancé for the first time.
Images making the rounds on Weibo show Liu leaving a marriage registry in Shanghai with a woman who’s been identified as Ge Tian, an actress.
Liu also released images of the two on his Weibo account this morning, confirming their relationship to the public for the first time. It’s a big deal, guys.
Thirty-one-year-old Liu, born in Shanghai, has become of the most popular athletes in China after being catapulted into fame during the Athens Olympics. The 110 meter hurdler is currently a World Record Holder, a World Champion and an Olympic Champion. His 2004 Olympic gold medal was China’s first in a track and field event.
