Yet another sinkhole was discovered along the newly built West Third Ring Road in Zhengzhou this week, making it the 15th gaping hole of its kind to be found on the road in less than half a year, Net Ease News reports. That’s not terrifying.
On September 21, a team of specialists blocked off the road area and carried out an investigation to determine the cause of such frequent collapsing.
It turns out that maintenance of the 13th sinkhole was not properly carried out on September 20, and a rescue vehicle found itself trapped inside. The bus driver said he’s stopped the vehicle for about 10 minutes on the road and suddenly began sinking into the earth.
The latest sinkhole measures 1.5m in diameter and 2m in depth. Workers discovered a cement pipe connected inside that was full of holes. Citizens now worry that the road will continue to collapse.
The sinkhole has been filled once again. An expert said that he and his team would employ seismic wave detection techniques along with drilling to check the density of holes in the ground and fix the problem once and for all.
Yeah…probably get on that before one of ’em devours a human being whole.
