A man believed to be in his twenties was seen climbing out of a fifth floor window in the western area of Fuzhou on Monday at around 14:40. The man, apparently disgruntled over a pay dispute with his boss, sat down on the outer ledge of the window for over two hours with the apparent intention to jump.
As events unfolded, worried residents continued to flock to the bottom of the building. Firefighters and police also fled to the scene, and an inflatable mattress was put in place, QQ News reports.

A lady surnamed Wang, who was the first to spot the man, told reporters that she saw a man climb out of a window on the fifth floor at around 14:40. She added that when she saw that he was carrying a knife (which later turned out to be a fruit knife) she instantly called the police.
Reports say that the man was working at a construction site nearby and that he had asked his boss for days-worth of unpaid wages. The boss’s apparent refusal then prompted the worker to take radical action.
The worker’s boss eventually arrived at the scene at 5:00 in the afternoon. The dispute was then resolved, on site, as the boss told him “I didn’t say I wouldn’t pay you!” and then swiftly handed him the money, on the fifth floor window ledge.
The man counted his money before climbing down from the ledge. Luckily, there was no fruit knife attack on this occasion.
