A man in Taipei was arrested on Monday morning for hacking his girlfriend 34 times to death after he was unable to mend their failed relationship, Tencent News said.
Zhang Yanwen, a graduate from National Taiwan University, went to his girlfriend’s rented house in hopes to mend their relationship after she broke up with him. Zhang threatened to use nude images of her as blackmail, but she still refused him. He then pulled out a fruit knife and slashed her 34 times in a fit of anger. He cut through arteries in the woman’s neck and she died on the spot in the early hours of the morning.

Zhang told police he’d been in a few relationships before her, but he loved her the most and didn’t understand why she wanted to break up.
“I’ve devoted all my love to her…let’s die together then,” he was quoted as saying.
A monk was called to the scene to perform necromancy.
Details surrounding the case are still being released. We’ll update more as information comes in.
Zhang often wrote about their relationship on social media.
