Are you an artist looking for extra exposure? Bring Your Own Beamer (BYOB) art initiative is coming to Shanghai and want your help to create an amazing DIY light show this November at the 1933 exhibition space.
Started by a Berlin non-profit, the theme for this year’s community event in Shanghai is “Begin/End/Loop.” The moving light, projection, and sound event will take place on the night of November 8 and the BYOB team is currently accepting submissions from local and international artists who would like to take part.
Interested artists can use any light medium they choose (film projectors, LEDs, lasers, torches, shadow play, etc.), however, they must be present on the day of to set up their equipment. Installation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on November 8, 2014. The show will run from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
BYOB Shanghai will take place in 1933, a former slaughterhouse building that provides the perfect blank canvas for projection installations. There will also be a small satellite event at DAFF on October 25/26th.
To submit your work to participate in BYOB Shanghai, email your proposal including your installation ideas with samples and/or your portfolio to Margot, Michelle, and Tina at [email protected] Submissions are due no later than October 8, 2014.
