American hit-maker extraordinaire/rumored divorcee/”elusive chanteuse” Mariah Carey will kick off her concert tour of China in Beijing on October 10 before hitting up our fair city on October 19.
The 44-year-old singer announced that she was coming to China in August as part of the 12-day Asian leg of a worldwide tour for her new album “Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse”. The album, released in May this year, sadly saw the lowest opening sales for a non-holiday studio album since 1991, when Nielsen SoundScan began tracking record sales.
Carey plans on belting out some new songs as well as her most popular hits (hopefully including “All I Want for Christmas is You”, as it seems to be blaring regularly in clothing stores here throughout the entire year).
Save the date: Carey will appear at Beijing’s Workers Stadium on October 10, at the Chengdu Sports Center on October 12, at Chongqing’s Olympic Sports Center on October 15, at Tianjin’s Olympic Center Stadium on October 17 and at Shanghai’s Hongkou Football Stadium on October 19.
It’s been almost 11 years since the singer’s last concert in mainland China, which was held in Shanghai on November 15, 2003. Back then, seats had completely sold out.
You can still get your tickets for her upcoming Shanghai show here. Hurry, before all the cheap tickets run out and it becomes so expensive that it’s not worth it (sorry, Mariah).
