China’s National Day, celebrated on Wednesday, marks the start of Golden Week and every year sees waves of tourists traveling the nation. This year is no different, with sites such as Hangzhou’s West Lake and Shanghai’s Bund having already become overwhelmed with Golden Week visitors (see pictures below).
National Day is celebrated on October 1 every year and commemorates the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The holiday also kicks off China’s Golden Week, which last year saw 428 million tourists vacationing in China.
