At least one person was killed and 324 people injured after a 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck Yunnan province last night, Xinhua reported.
The quake hit at 9:49 p.m. with a focal depth of five kilometers. The epicenter was monitored in Jinggu county. Around 7,000 homes were destroyed and over 13,000 damaged as 92,700 people in the county were affected. More than half of these people have been relocated, Xinhua said.
The provincial government will send 10,000 tents, 10,000 blankets and 10,000 winter coats to the area, Bloomberg reported, citing CCTV.
Yunnan is a mountainous region prone to natural disasters. In August, a 6.5-magnitude earthquake in Yunnan left over 600 people dead.
