Shattered glass paved Hangkai Road in Xi’an city Tuesday morning, after windows from some 30 cars parked there were smashed in by an unknown person the night before, China Youth.
The battered cars—including a Mercedes Benz, an Audi and a Buick—were all new.
A lady surnamed Yu living nearby told reporters that she parked her car at the north end of the road on the evening of October 6 and woke up to find the windows smashed and the door damaged. “We feel insecure living here,” she told reporters.
Another car owner surnamed Zhang said that he’d only lost his driving license, but he had to bear all the costs for repairing the car himself.
According to a few residents, no monitoring cameras have been set up in this area. They said they haven’t heard of such a case happening in the neighborhood before.
