A kindergarten in Beijing’s Tongzhou district which was due to close was forcbly demolished by dozens of security guards from a new school taking over, to the ire of multitudes of parents who were kept out of the kindergarten, according to People’s Daily
According to reports, the lease contract on the kindergarten had expired, and 300 of its students had to be transferred to a new school in the middle of the term. .
In the afternoon of October 4, 50 staff members and security guards from the new school forced their way into Huijia Kindergarten and broke open the gate of the school. They began demolishing the premises and kept parents out of the compound.
30 parents confronted the appalling behaviour security guards. “You are running a school. You aren’t a gang of bandits. Why you have to throw the kids’ supplies?” said a parent.
A few parents told reporters that Huijia Kindergarten had run the school for ten years. But they’d been told that their children needed to transfer to a new school.
“The new school’s way of doing things is too crude. We can’t rest assured if our children study there”, numbers of disgruntled parents mentioned.
The person in charge of Huijia Kindergarten said that the childen can either have a full refund for their tuition or transfer to another Huijia kindergarten in other location in the city.
A head of the new school responded that more than 100 parents had signed up in their school. He said, “It’s understandable that the parents are hesitant with concerns. But manpower and various supplies are ready for the new school day. ”
