The air pollution alert for Hebei has been raised to orange, the second-highest level, but these students in an elementary school in Handan city, Hebei province still had to take their exam out in open grounds on Thursday, incurring the wrath of netizens.
According to Sina Weibo, the plight of these poor students from the Hebei Linzhang fifth elementary school was first brought to attention by a Weibo user.
There weren’t enough classrooms in the elementary school, thus a group of students had to take their exams on the field. Some of them were only able to squat, while others gave in and simply sat on the ground. In fact, the so-called “tables” that the students had to use were actually high stools, and not even proper tables.
Weibo users commented: “Has education stooped to such low levels?”, “Please stop taking the health of the kids as a joke!”
Meanwhile, pollution alerts in Beijing have also been raised to the orange level, reported SCMP.
