Look, we all like free stuff. Free food samples at the grocery store? Nice. A free energy drink from those half-naked Red Bull ladies? Really great. But we really have to wonder if the bargain was worth it for the Jinan residents who stood in this 100-meter-long line to get a free drink valued at three yuan on Saturday.
The residents needed to put their name and contact number on a list before they got the free drinks, which were offered by a Chinese drink company as part of a promotional stunt. Witnesses said that the line of people stretched as far as 100 meters.
As you can see, most residents in the line are elderly people over 50 years old.
Thankfully, the event remained orderly and civilized as residents stayed queued in line, unlike the mad grab-fest that ensued in Hubei during a similar event.
