A man in Yibing city, Sichuan province has reportedly spent 27 years helping dozens of kids cross the river to get to and from school every day.
Numerous mountains along with the winding Erjia River have brought about many inconveniences for the residents who attempt to leave Xingshan village, contributing to its remote and underdeveloped condition.
Luo Guanglin, dubbed the “ferry man”, has been voluntarily rafting local kids across the Erjia River to get to school for years.
If Luo isn’t there to take the kids across, they usually just walk across scores of stone bricks sticking out of the water, regardless of the weather.
Luo doesn’t remember when he started the work, but a villager with good memory told reporters that it’s been 27 years since Luo took the “job” without pay.
