A post-80s couple in Shanxi decided to celebrate their love with a red marriage ceremony, NetEase reports.
Close friends and family members on October 6 gathered to see Yue Tinghe and Ge Pinghua tie the knot during their extravagant wedding ceremony with Chinese Communist characteristics.
The wedding featured a giant wall scroll bearing a poem by Chairman Mao. All the guests received “serve the people” badges as wedding favors.
The couple paid respects to one another under the the watchful gaze of Mao (and the creepy Mao impersonator), and swore to “always believe in Mao Zedong Thought, and pass down Mao Zedong Thought generation after generation”
On NetEase alone, thousands of people are talking about and commenting on the post. Several netizens questioned how the college master’s graduates managed to get ahold of those degrees. The overwhelmingly cynical comments triggered responses from other web users who questioned the younger generation’s criticism towards Mao.
