A Nanjing inventor has succesfully raised 10,000USD via a Kickstarter campaign to begin research and development on an amazing air umbrella, which blows out air to create a force field that protects the person underneath it from rain, people.com.cn reported.
The inventor behind this device is Chuan Wang who is working alongside a team from universities in Beijing and Nanjing. The umbrella weighs under 2 pounds with a battery charge of 15 to 30 minutes, and is expected to be ready for shipping by the end of 2015.
There is only one small catch, Citylab notes. The air umbrella will also spew out raindrops to nearby passers-by instead, essentially drenching them in rainwater- but we suppose passersby would know enough to keep a wide berth from the air umbrella-toting individual.
