The list of what some Chinese people will do for the newly-released iPhone 6 is long, pretty embarrassing, and includes renting out their significant other, but on Saturday couples in Zhejiang just had to lock lips with their lovers for as long as they could possibly stand.
NetEase says that the “Kissing Competition” took place outside a shopping mall in Jinhua city of Zhejiang Province, and featured 40 couples vying for the ultimate reward of a single iPhone6. The winning couple successfully touched lips for 52 minutes before collapsing on to the red carpet, hopefully to give the voyeuristic onlookers a more interesting show.
The event was spiced up with the entry of three same-sex couples, two female couples and one male couple. Apparently, they were cheered on by the onlookers, who awkwardly snapped hundreds of sexy pics of gay smooches (gasp!).
The event also revealed what the different sexes do when faced with the boredom of kissing their partner for lengthy amounts of time. Men’s eyes tend to wander to the hot action around them.
While women find other ways to entertain themselves.
Since they weren’t being judged on style, the contestants kissing style was pretty bland. Some pulled off a romantic pose or two, while others were obviously just going through the motions, poorly.
The iPhone6 finally went on sale in China last Friday, and that will hopefully stem the growing tide of people crossing the Hong Kong border with iPhones in their underwear.
