On Sunday, pictures emerged of a villager’s house in Hainan that reports say bears a striking resemblance to the White House. While we don’t really see the resemblance, we do appreciate the effort.
NetEase reports that the house owner has apparently been surprised by all the media attention his home has been getting, presumably he just wanted to live a nice quiet life in his wacky house.
The owner said that he designed and constructed the ‘Whiteish House’ by himself along with the adjacent building that looks kind of like a European village-style house or something. He said that he set about building this dream home after his old family house was requisitioned by the government to build a highway through. Apparently, the master bedroom is located in the Capitol Dome and the windmill conforms perfectly to feng shui principles.
But come on. There’s no way this thing looks like the White House, the Capitol Building, maybe.
Either way, while we may find it somewhat charming and not the worst thing China has put up, Xi Jinping is not going to be pleased.
