The Fall 2014 edition of the Design, Art and Fashion Fair (aka DAFF) has been postponed indefinitely, following “anti-terrorism concerns” raised by the district government in the area where the event was going to be held.
In an email that went out to vendors of the fair, the organisers The Ice Cream Truck explained: “The West Bund venue had expressed anti-terrorism concerns from the Xuhui government. We have been working with the venue and government authorities to find a suitable solution. In part, due to the success of the Spring edition, police authorities asked for a security re-evaluation of the venue, where it was deemed unsafe for such a large-scale event.” (h/t SmSh)
TICT made a last-minute attempt to find a replacement venue but approval for such a large scale event wasn’t going to come in time, so it looks like the event won’t happen for now. The perils of running events here — you’re forever at the mercy of someone up there.
