Qinghai lake, China’s largest lake, was host to some spectacular scenes on Monday when, in a 40 minute period, a total of nine waterspouts were seen out on the water (pictures below).
The first waterspout (effectively a tornado that occurs over a body of water) was spotted at around 9:50 a.m.
According to Qinghai meteorological experts, the waterspouts were a result of strong convective weather patterns occurring over a short period of time, writes China News.
