A man in Jiangsu province has been arrested on charges of child molestation via the internet after police found explicit video clips of 16 different young girls on his computer whom he’d managed to get naked by pretending to be a teacher.
The 38-year-old suspect, surnamed Qiao, is a migrant worker who moved to Xinghua, Jiangsu in 2013, when his wife had surgery.
Qiao left his job to take care of his wife after her surgery, according to Sina, which pointed out that the two weren’t able to have sex since her operation.
Out of boredom, Qiao spent much of his free time surfing the internet. One day he stumbled upon a news story about a man who pretended to be a teacher and got girls to chat with him naked online.
Rather than taking the news story as a cautionary tale, Qiao was apparently inspired. He began adding users on QQ who were between nine and 15 years old, then messaged them directly and claimed to be their physiology teacher next term.
Several girls accepted his request and began chatting. He asked them to takes off their clothes while he performed “one-on-one” teaching, according to the report, claiming that in next year’s physiology course, everyone in class would be taught without clothes.
Qiao managed to chat with 16 girls under the age of 12 from March to August this year. The gig was finally up when one of the girl’s parents, who ran an internet bar, found her daughter chatting with him and called the cops.
Qiao’s lawyer argued that the defendant didn’t actually have physical contact with the girls, but a local judge stated that Qiao’s behavior was of in the same nature of child molestation. He may face up to five years in jail.
