The parents of an infant girl who was found to have 12 steel needles stuck inside her body after X-ray photos were taken at a hospital in Liaocheng city, Shandong province say they are clueless as to who did it.
Liu, the mother of 11-month-old Fan Zixuan, said she’d previously pulled four needles off of her daughter, but “didn’t think too much” about it until she saw the X-ray photos on October 20.
Liu said she used to see small red spots on her daughter but thought they were caused by an allergy. She took Fan Zixuan to the hospital after finding two swelling red spots on her daughter’s bottom recently, according to Sina.
Both Liu and Fan were astonished seeing the X-ray photos of their baby – 12 steel needles shone like silver in the child’s belly and bottom.
“I didn’t remember pulling needles out of her until seeing the X-ray photos,” Ms. Liu said.
About two months ago when Liu cleaned for the baby, she kept crying. Liu found a thin shining object sticking near her daughter’s anus. It was a sewing needle about two cm (0.78 inches) long.
Liu claimed she thought the baby got the needle on herself when she sat down, and reproached herself for leaving things about. One months later, Liu saw another three needles erected on the girl’s belly, bottom and left thigh.
“I really didn’t think too much because the baby was very naughty,” Liu said she only pulled the needles out.
“Now when I look back, I guess someone’s been pricking needles to my baby viciously,” Liu said. She called the police under the advice of doctors.
The girl’s parents say they are puzzled as to who would have done this to their daughter, as they are ‘both peasants who seldom had problems with people’.
Fan Zixuan’s father said that his mother and Liu’s mother often cared for the child, and occasionally their friends or neighbors would come over to help take care of her when they went to work.
As of yesterday, the time of Sina’s reporting, Fan Zixhuan had been transferred to a Beijing hospital for treatment with the 12 needles still inside her body. She was in stable condition, but a doctor warned that the needles could enter her internal organs if they moved in her body.
Villagers from the girl’s hometown have already helped raise over 3,000 yuan for medical expenses.
