Just in time for Halloween, Huai’an city in Jiangsu has opened its very own imperial torture museum, devoted to showing all the best and most inventive methods of extreme discomfort that 5,000 glorious years of Chinese history has to offer.
The pictures from Sina give just a taste of the almost 200 different types of torture instruments on display at the museum that are creepily shown with unfortunate mannequin victims and stern mannequin torturers. It has something to horrify everyone: cutting, burning, squeezing, bending, flaying, suffocating, etc. Fun and nightmares for the whole family.
The museum should earn quite a few visitors considering that some74% of Chinese people are fans of torture when necessary. Some people are even trying these old tricks in our modern era.
Anyway, the museum should at least be able to count on an influx of official CCP “study trips” as senior party-discipline officials try to send a more clear message to cadres. Perhaps the museum will even allow demonstrations.
