Both the police and fire services were called into action last friday when a German shepherd
jumped onto a Chongqing bus and refused to leave, provoking a six-hour standoff.
The bus, which had no passengers at the time, was on its way to Shapingba Han Yu road station when the dog jumped on and lay down next to the driver, refusing to leave. The driver, understandably alarmed, ignored the remainder of his designated route and drove directly to the station, where he tried to coax the canine out of the vehicle.
The driver’s efforts were in vain, however, and he was left with no option but to call the emergency services.
Both the police and fire brigade arrived at the scene and tried a number of tactics to remove the dog, including prodding it with sticks and (rather humorously) having a heart-to-heart talk with it.
The dog, which appeared to have made the driver’s seat his new home, apparently just wanted a drink, however, and was eventually tempted out by the driver six hours later with a glass of water. NetEase informs us that the dog then, in true China-style, relieved himself on the roadside.
Dog unmoved after being prodded with pole by police
Dog is engaged in ‘heart-to-heart’ talk–still unmoved
More prodding- still no use
Eventually teased out with a glass of water
