Ok, so technically he’s not actually running on the water itself, but you got to hand it to Quanzhou Shaolin Temple monk Shi Liliang for the skills he showed off yesterday.
According to Tencent, the martial arts technique is called Qinggong and involves running really, really quickly and lightly so you can do stuff that gravity says you shouldn’t. You’ve probably seen this kind of stuff in Kung Fu movies where they use wires.
Well, there’s no wires here, just Shi Liliang, the water, and lots of thin plywood planks separating the two. To “float” across the water Shi tip-toes crazy fast until he loses his balance. This is one of those things that looks way easier than it actually is. Five years ago, Shi was ecstatic to make it 15 meters. He thought he’d be satisfied with 50 meters. Now, he’s apparently up to 118 meters. There’s no stopping him. Soon, a train across the Pacific will be useless to him.
