Nine people were buried in a rain-triggered landslide that hit Yunnan province on Tuesday, according to local authorities.
The landslide occurred in Xiaoxin village, Dongchuan district of Kunming city around 11:00 a.m., Xinhua reported.
Last month, a landslide struck a highway construction site and buried 21 workers in Yan’an city, Shaanxi province. The site contained temporary dormitories for workers, who were killed in their sleep as the landslide occurred.
Aside from just heavy rain, landslides are often thought to be triggered by construction and deforestation.
