A man killed one person and injured at least 18 more when he got in his car and began intentionally running people over this morning in Hubei province’s Fang county, reports say.
A witness at the scene told reporters that the man didn’t appear drunk and was running over pedestrians on purpose. The county government believes the man was taking out his anger with society.
Beijing News learned from a source close to the local government that the man was identified as 30-year-old Deng Zhongkun. The source said that he had killed another person at his home around 6:00 a.m. and called the police himself. While waiting for cops to arrive, he ‘lost control of his mind’ and ran out to the street while hacking at people with a knife indiscriminately. He the forced a sedan driver to stop his car, took control of the wheel and began running over people.
The man was arrested and has been placed in custody as police continue investigating.
