A Beijing man who grabbed a two-year-old girl from her stroller and threw her to the ground after getting into an argument with the child’s mother was executed today, Xinhua reports.
Han Lei, 40, was given the death penalty in September after the Beijing No. 1 Intermediate People’s Court found him guilty of intentional homicide. He had lodged an appeal, but it was rejected by the Beijing Higher People’s Court in November.
On July 23 last year, Han had been sitting the the passenger seat as his companion tried to park his car near a bus stop in the Daxing district when a woman stopped in the space to check on her child. Han reportedly got out of his car and attacked the woman before grabbing the child and forcefully throwing her to the ground.
Han claimed that he was intoxicated at the time. He was found and arrested hours later in a spa.
The child sustained injuries and died before being admitted to a second hospital.
