Martial arts classes are part and parcel of a school’s curriculum, but the smog situation has gotten so bad that Beiquanfu Primary School in Licheng district, Jinan province has decided that it is better to keep the students indoors for their daily exercise sessions, NetEase reported. Better than to let them suffer outdoors in toxic smog.
Other schools have taken similar measures in the past, following the government’s exhortatons to keep elderly and children indoors during smoggy days. Hangzhou students have taken to carrying out their daily flag-raising sessions via computer screens due to the air pollution.
Last year, a Beijing school also launched online teaching lessons for smoggy days. These Beiquanfu students might be crossing their fingers – or not – for similar measures soon.
