An eight-year-old girl was mauled and killed by a circus tiger on Friday after walking into its enclosure at an amusement park in Chongqing city.
The child had secretly slipped into the animal’s enclosure while visiting the Leheledu Amusement Park with her family. She suffered severe injuries from the attack and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to China News.
A spokesman at the park said in reports that an initial compensation agreement had been made with the victim’s family. The park further pledged to improve its safety measures to prevent similar tragedies from happening.
Weeks ago, a nine-year-old boy had his arm torn off by a bear when he’d jumped past the guard rail and reached inside the cage to feed it at a zoo in Henan.
