The Southwest University for Nationalities in Sichuan province recently confiscated a slew of electrical appliances from students, which are banned from being used in school dorms, and displayed them on its playground as a warning on Wednesday.
The prohibited items on display include rice cookers and heaters, used to heat up cold water for bathing on cold days. Images of the banned items were published on Weibo.
“This is my university. The food served in the cafeteria tastes terrible and takeaway food delivery people are not allowed to enter our university based on the latest regulations,” said a student in the university. “I won’t eat at the cafeteria anymore as I had two bad experiences. Once, I ate a mouthful of mud in my food; the other time, the bloody undercooked chicken really freaked me out.”
“The cleanliness of food is way below standard and that is the main reason that we (students) choose to cook with our own cookers,” she added.
Apparently not any more.
School management should take heed. On Thursday evening, a mob of students in a Guangdong college started a riot, overturned tables and even attacked their principal because they said the school food was of poor quality and too expensive.
