Over 34 million condoms were seized after a company which had been illegally producing them was busted by the Changsha Food and Drugs Supervision Bureau, China.com reported.
The arrested suspect had registered the company’s business scope as involving the production, assemblage and sales of electronic toys.
The company used vibrators, inflatable dolls and other types of sex toys as a cover for its underground business of condom manufacturing, which it did not obtain a licence for. These condoms were sold to all regions in China except for Tibet, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
On April 23, over 200 policemen busted the five story house and seized 28 million semi-manufactured condoms and 6 million manufactured condoms. The seized products, packing materials and machines all together were valued at 0.23 billion yuan in total.
Chen, the suspect, was arrested and two other companies operating under the same auspices are also under investigation.
