Because Taobao is the magical online marketplace that it is, you can now purchase knock-off versions of those silky, Jean-Luc Picard-esque suits worn by world leaders at the APEC summit.
Beijing News claims that online shops have been ‘flooded with orders’ for the tunics worn by APEC leaders and kin during their “family photo” on November 10, with one shop seeing over 20 requests for jackets in half a day.
APEC tradition sees that leaders gather to take part in a really uncomfortable “family photo” featuring matching outfits that are supposed to represent the country hosting the event. Despite what seems to have been a great amount of thought that went into the designs this year, people couldn’t resist comparing the shiny, high-collared tunics to those worn by participants at a Star Trek convention.
But, if that’s the look you’re going for, you can pick up your own knockoff here for as low as 300 yuan.
