The fancy-schmancy tableware provided for foreign dignitaries at the APEC welcoming banquet can now be all yours, thanks to your friendly online marketplace vendors.
You know, for when you slip on your newly purchased APEC-inspired frocks and throw a swanky, APEC-inspired dinner party.
The imperial yellow dining sets, with designs inspired by patterns of ancient wall paintings, were on display for leaders and representatives in attendance at the APEC summit welcoming banquet, held on October 10 at the Beijing Water Cube. Each set is is comprised of 68 items, all of which were made in Nanjing, according to a NetEase report. The original price per set? A modest 100,000RMB (or more).
Now, you can purchase your very own set for about half the price on Taobao.
One Shenzhen vendor identified as 游尽天下 is selling the dining set for 49,999RMB. He wouldn’t disclose the maker of the tableware to Shanghaiist.
“I’m sorry that I can’t tell you where it was made, but the factory is very renowned among few super-factories in China,” he told us. “If you purchase the order, you will know where it’s from when you get it.”
He added that the set has only 67 individual pieces. People usually buy them as collection items.
“These days, the factory is too busy. It might take 15 days at the most to deliver,” he said.
Bonus: He can also deliver the tableware abroad. Birthday presents for all!
